Whether you are turning 65 or have had Medicare for years, navigating the system and finding the best plan can be confusing and time consuming. John Phillips is a helping professional who takes the headache out of that experience and provides guidance for you throughout the Medicare journey. He has been helping Seniors do this for 10+ years and has served over 500 clients.


As an independent Agent working through the IFG brokerage (Innovative Financial Group - www.teamIFG.com); he is able to shop plans from several companies and find the best plan for his client. Through IFG he is contracted to represent several different companies such as Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, Devoted, Anthem, Cigna and Wellcare. With access to so many companies, Johns clients can be confident, that they are in the very best plan available to them that suits their personal needs and desires.

John Phillips lives in Aurora, Ohio with his wife, Diana, and their two cats Greyson and Ellie. Activities they enjoy include traveling, hiking and golf. As a blended family, they raised six amazing boys, which are now incredible men building families of their own. They have also added two Grandchildren to this beautiful family whom they adore. Family get-togethers often include the eight grand-dogs and with this group are always fun and exciting.

What We Do:

John’s primary focus is Medicare. Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are age 65 or older. It is also available for certain people younger than 65 with disabilities or people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD). There are different parts of Medicare that cover specific services like inpatient hospital stays, doctors' services and the cost of prescription drugs.


There are many different ways to utilize Medicare. Depending on the client’s unique situation, needs, and eligibility, there could be a dozen or more plan options for them. “My goal is always to find the best plan for the client that meets their goals, reduces the most health risk for the least amount of money, and if available, provides additional benefits that are valuable to the client.”

What To Expect When You Work With John:

John will meet with you in your home or the place of your choosing, like a senior center, library or coffee shop. He can also meet with you over the phone if you’d prefer. He will ask questions, listen to your needs and desires, check your doctors and your medications, then compare the plans that meet your criteria. John will answer all your questions about the different plans and companies to help you choose the best plan. Once you choose a plan, John will enroll you and provide all the plan materials. He will also give you his personal cell phone number and be available to you for any questions or concerns that may come up along the way. It usually takes 7-10 business days for the application to process and receive your new card by mail. During the Annual Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 – Dec. 7 th , processing times may increase.


You pay nothing for John’s services; he is paid by the insurance companies when he enrolls you and becomes your agent. Then, after the first year, the insurance companies pay him a nominal amount each month to provide service to you, so you don’t ever have to feel like you are an intrusion when you call him.


The cost of the plan (usually we can find a $0 per month plan) is the same whether you enroll through John or if you call the insurance company directly and enroll yourself. If you do that, you will likely wait on hold for a while and once you get enrolled, you will not have a local agent you can call. If you enroll through John, He becomes your personal Agent and he will be available to you anytime you need assistance or guidance.

Medicare Insurance policies are contracts between you, the insurance company, and Medicare, (and in some cases Medicaid). Summary of Benefit documents are overviews and have many moving parts within these contracts. This is another reason why it is important to use a professional licensed agent like John, who will look out for your best interest, listen to your needs and provide guidance so you can choose the right plan. “As your Agent, I do not want you to have any surprises.”

We serve anyone who has Medicare, or both Medicare and Medicaid, or is turning 65 in the coming months. Presently I am licensed in Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We also have plans designed especially for Veterans that work well with VA benefits.
